Teacher training course for medical English

Teacher training seminar for medical English

  • Outlining healthcare provision in the UK
  • Understanding target audience and effective patient communication skills
  • Adopting an appropriate methodology
  • Creating EMP materials
  • Employing and adapting authentic texts
  • Designing EMP needs analysis and assessment tools

Emphasis placed on the therapeutic nature of medicine means our learners, more than others, have a very real need to communicate effectively from day one.
Many ELT trainers ‘fear’ or at best are wary of the medical English classroom and its occupants. Concerned about inadequate knowledge of content and terminology, they often feel ‘unsure’ of their role and the benefits such collaboration might bring. Just what is entailed in training professionals from the field of medicine?
During this 90-minute seminar, the presenter – herself a non-practitioner - will give an overview of teaching patient communications in English and hopefully debunk a few of the myths.
